Dr. Ronan O’Higgins

Dr. Ronan O’Higgins is the Course Director of the Integrated BE/ME of Aeronautical Engineering programme at the University of Limerick. He is a graduate of the same course and has a PhD. in composite aircraft structures. In his career to date, he has worked in the Structural Repair and Component Maintenance Group (SRCM) at the Boing Company, Seattle and was a researcher on the Airbus led EU funded MAAXIMUS project, dedicated to optimising commercial aircraft composite fuselage design and manufacture. His current research focuses on manufacture and repair of advanced aerospace composites structures, involving work with companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and the European Space Agency (ESA). Through his teaching and research roles he regularly interacts with industry both nationally and internationally. He is a technical assessor for the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) and is a member of Commercial Aircraft Composite Repair Committee (CACRC).
