Avolon has signed an agreement to sell a portfolio of 33 commercial aircraft, including Boeing 737 MAXs, Airbus A330s and A350s, to Qatar-based Lesha Bank. The deal, valued at 1.609 billion dollars, covers aircraft currently on lease to 25 airlines worldwide, with the final price to be determined through negotiation between the two parties.

Avolon is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and was founded in 2010. The lessor is owned 70% by Bohai Leasing Co., listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE: 000415), and 30% by ORIX Corporation. As of the end of 2025, Avolon held a fleet of 632 commercial aircraft, comprising 596 owned and 36 managed, with 34 billion dollars in total assets and 500 aircraft on order through 2033. The company reported net income of 591 million dollars for 2025, up 29% year on year.

Lesha Bank is headquartered in Doha, Qatar, and listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange (ticker: QFBQ). For 2025, the bank reported total assets of 8.1 billion Qatari riyals (1.9 billion euros), up 19% year on year, with assets under management reaching 13.3 billion riyals (3.13 billion euros), up 54%.

Avolon signed the agreement with LAC Leasing Ireland 1, an entity established by Lesha Bank for the transaction, according to a filing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange by Avolon's owner, Bohai Leasing.

The portfolio covers 22 narrowbody aircraft, including eight A320s, three A321s, eight Boeing 737-800s and 737 MAX 8s, and a single A320neo, alongside nine widebodies comprising five A330s, one A330neo and three A350s. Two Embraer ERJ190 regional aircraft are also included in the deal.

In a joint statement, the two parties said the transaction represented "a significant milestone" in the development of their relationship, adding that it "demonstrates the depth of institutional capital seeking exposure to leased aircraft and the continued strength of demand for high-quality aviation assets."

For the sector, the sale underscores continued institutional appetite for leased aircraft portfolios as investors seek exposure to aviation assets amid strong global demand.
