Bangkok Airways has reported a net profit of 3.14 billion baht (€85 million) in the first nine months of 2025, maintaining financial stability despite a 2% decline in passenger numbers.

The Thai airline is accelerating fleet renewal and upgrading its Samui Airport hub to leverage the regional tourism recovery.

The airline’s Samui routes remain its commercial backbone, carrying 66% of all passengers with an 87% load factor, above the company average of 76%. Domestic services to Samui grew 4% year-on-year, supported by improved tourism confidence, while connections to Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi reached load factors close to 90%.

International markets contribute 82% of passenger revenue, with European and Middle Eastern travellers representing 55% of this segment. However, the airline experienced a 12% decline on international routes, reflecting the uneven nature of regional recovery amid geopolitical uncertainties.

Bangkok Airways operates a fleet of 22 Airbus aircraft, including 11 A320s, one A319, and two ATR72-600s. The airline plans to add two A320s and acquire 10–12 ATR72-600 aircraft, with initial deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The airline is investing 600–700 million baht (€16–19 million) in Samui Airport renovations, scheduled to start mid-2026. The upgrade focuses on passenger lounges, baggage handling systems, and transit areas to accommodate growing passenger numbers. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, the airline’s president, highlighted Utapao Airport near Pattaya as a strategic priority to expand regional connectivity.

Environmental considerations are central to the airline’s strategy. Sustainable aviation fuel is currently used on 1% of flights departing Thailand, with ambitions to increase usage to 10% over the coming years. Bangkok Airways has also signed an MoU with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and other domestic carriers to promote environmentally responsible practices.
