Global aviation asset trading and material management company EirTrade Aviation has acquired two six-year-old A320neo aircraft powered by PW1127G geared turbofan engines.

The engines will be sold to alleviate the ongoing global shortage of spare PW1100-series units, while both airframes will be disassembled at EirTrade Aviation’s facility at Ireland West Airport Knock to support its growing A320neo customer base.

Lee Carey, chief investment officer at EirTrade Aviation, said: “We are attuned to market demand and align our acquisitions accordingly to support the needs of our customers. EirTrade Aviation has previously disassembled other new technology aircraft, being the first company to disassemble B787 aircraft retired from commercial service.”

The company collaborated with Seagull Aviation, which acted as CAMO and provided technical representation during delivery. The aircraft are now in storage at the Knock maintenance facility, with disassembly set to begin once engines and APUs are removed. Material is expected to be released to the market before the end of the year.

Carey highlighted the scale of the platform, noting: “There are currently over 4,000 A320/321neo aircraft in commercial service with a further 7,100 on order. The platform will constitute the largest commercial aircraft fleet worldwide, and EirTrade Aviation is committed to supporting owners and operators of these aircraft.”

The acquisition reinforces EirTrade Aviation’s position as a leading supplier of A320neo materials, providing airlines and operators with critical components amid ongoing supply pressures and increasing fleet numbers globally.
