Kuehne+Nagel (K+N) is set to expand its footprint in the global aerospace logistics market through the acquisition of Eastway Global Forwarding Ltd, a Limerick-headquartered, family-owned logistics provider with operations across 130 countries.

Eastway offers time-critical aircraft-on-ground (AOG) services, aircraft engine logistics, aviation warehousing, and customs brokerage, alongside full lifecycle support for the aviation leasing sector.

The aviation lessor market, controlling over 50% of the global fleet, is projected to grow from $187.1bn (€161.69bn) in 2024 to $565.1bn (€488.37bn) by 2034 at a CAGR of 11.8%, highlighting the strategic value of Eastway’s specialised services.

The acquisition complements K+N’s bolt-on growth strategy, enhancing its ability to deliver integrated, end-to-end logistics solutions for airlines, leasing companies, and aviation operators.

Completion of the deal is expected by the end of the year, after which Eastway will operate as a fully-owned subsidiary of K+N.

Yngve Ruud, K+N board member responsible for air logistics, stated that Eastway’s established network and expertise make it a strong fit for the group, enabling it to extend global coverage, optimise operational efficiency, and support clients with complex supply chain requirements.

Frank Junior McNamara, managing director of Eastway, highlighted that the partnership merges Eastway’s deep sector knowledge with K+N’s international capabilities, providing enhanced service offerings and creating growth opportunities for staff.

The collaboration also positions K+N to meet rising demand for reliable aerospace logistics, particularly for mission-critical operations such as engine replacements, spares distribution, and rapid AOG response.

The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
