Knock Airport targets €24m revenues with record passenger growth
Ireland West Airport Knock in County Mayo is on track for revenues of €24m in 2025, driven by its busiest year yet and expanding passenger numbers.
Last year, pre-tax profits rose 31% to €2.46m, while revenues increased 11% to €21.08m.
Passenger numbers reached 834,000 in 2024, surpassing the previous record of 818,000, with projections for 2025 exceeding 900,000. Ryanair carried 738,000 passengers in 2024, representing 88% of overall traffic, while Aer Lingus recorded its busiest year on the London Heathrow route with 91,000 passengers.
The airport expanded European connectivity, with 165,000 passengers travelling to destinations including Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Majorca, Malaga, Milan, Cologne, Lanzarote, and Tenerife, a 9% increase from 2023. The 2025 summer schedule is set to increase capacity by around 18% compared to last year.
While forecast revenues for 2025 point to €24m, pre-tax results may reflect a loss before government funding due to cost pressures. The airport continues to rely on the Regional Airports Programme to support safety, security, fire, and air traffic control operations.
Financials include non-cash depreciation and impairment costs of €3.38m and government grant income of €4.47m. Post-tax profit stood at €2.13m after a corporation tax charge of €326,493.
Staff numbers increased from 148 to 153, with overall salaries rising from €6.97m to €7.4m. Executive remuneration included €198,067 in pay plus €46,623 in pension contributions. Revenue breakdown shows €8.76m from aeronautical operations, €12.2m from commercial activity, and €47,500 from other sales. Shareholder funds ended the year at €13.8m, with cash reserves rising to €12.2m.
