Philippine Airlines and regional sister carrier PAL Express have adopted paperless flight deck operations through the deployment of Conduce's eTechLog8 Electronic Technical Logbook, marking a significant step in both carriers' wider digital transformation programmes.

According to Aviation Business News, the eTechLog8 system is designed to support reliable data capture, 24/7 operational support and improved fleet oversight by moving technical logbook processes into a fully digital environment. The technology is expected to improve turnaround times and strengthen operational resilience across both carriers' fleets.

Capt. Roland Narciso, senior vice president for the operations group at Philippine Airlines, said the decision to adopt the technology reflected the airline's continued commitment to service innovation and operational excellence.

Paul Boyd, managing director at Conduce, welcomed the partnership. "As a carrier with such a rich history and a strong focus on innovation, their decision to adopt eTechLog8 highlights their commitment to modernising operations and embracing digital transformation," he said.

Electronic technical logbooks replace paper-based maintenance records with digitally captured data that can be accessed in real time by maintenance, engineering and operations teams. The shift eliminates manual transcription, reduces the risk of data entry errors and accelerates the flow of technical information between flight crews and ground-based maintenance personnel.

Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier of the Philippines and one of the oldest airlines in Asia, operating an international and domestic network from its Manila hub. PAL Express operates as a regional subsidiary, serving domestic routes across the Philippine archipelago.

The adoption of eTechLog8 reflects a broader trend across Asian carriers toward digital flight operations, with electronic logbook deployments accelerating as regulators in the region increasingly accept paperless records as compliant with airworthiness documentation requirements.
