Saxon Air was named winner of both the Aviation Sustainability & Environment Award and Aviation Company of the Year title at the recently concluded Aviation Industry Awards UK 2026 for its Solar Plane Port and SKYCHARGE projects. The double recognition places the Norwich-based operator's solar-to-electric flight model among the year's most notable advances in cleaner regional aviation.
Saxon Air secured two category wins at the Aviation Industry Awards UK, with its Solar Plane Port and SKYCHARGE initiatives earning both the Aviation Sustainability & Environment Award and Aviation Company of the Year.
Operating from Norwich Airport, Saxon Air provides helicopter and business jet charter, aircraft management, flight training and FBO services across the UK, Europe and further afield. The company has committed to reaching NetZero by 2030, and in 2025 it generated 311 MWh of solar energy while completing 107 zero-emission flights.
In the Aviation Sustainability & Environment category, judges were impressed by the company's hands-on approach to clean aviation, which brings together solar charging, electric aircraft and battery storage. They said: "The closed loop solar to electric flight model demonstrates how sustainability can move from ambition to real world implementation. With strong employee engagement and measurable progress, Saxon Air provides an inspiring example of innovation driving the future of aviation."
The same projects carried Saxon Air to the Aviation Company of the Year title, where the judging panel pointed to the firm's role in developing infrastructure for electric flight. The judges said: "A standout example of innovation, ambition and leadership in modern aviation. Saxon Air is demonstrating that sustainability and operational excellence can go hand in hand. Through pioneering projects such as the Solar Plane Port and SKYCHARGE, the company is helping build infrastructure for the next generation of electric aviation. Its commitment to reducing emissions while advancing regional aviation sets a powerful example for the wider industry. A thoroughly deserving winner of Aviation Company of the Year."
The two wins recognise a business that has paired measurable emissions reductions with continued growth in its core charter and services operations, offering a working model for operators weighing the shift towards electric aviation. The awards were presented at the gala ceremony held on 22 September 2026 at the Park Plaza London Riverbank.
