Aviation Capital Group delivers first A220-300 to ITA Airways
US-based aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has delivered its first Airbus A220-300 to Italian airline ITA Airways, marking the initial handover from a 20-aircraft order placed in 2022. The delivery will be followed by four additional A220-300s over the coming months.
The aircraft is ACG’s first A220 delivered from Mirabel, Quebec, sourced from its February 2022 order with Airbus. ITA Airways’ fleet is now composed entirely of Airbus aircraft, including models such as the A350-900, A220-300, A320neo, A330-900neo, A220-100, and A321neo.
On its website, ITA Airways noted that it aims for approximately 90% of its fleet to be composed of new-generation aircraft by 2027, targeting the youngest airline fleet in Europe.
Tom Baker, Chief Executive Officer and President of ACG, said: “We are thrilled to welcome ITA Airways as a new customer to ACG and to support the airline’s continued transition to sustainable A220 technology for its short and medium haul network.”
ACG is a global aircraft lessor specialising in commercial aircraft leasing, aviation finance, and asset management. Its customer base includes major carriers such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, and Etihad Airways. According to KPMG’s Aviation Leaders Report 2025, ACG ranks as the 10th largest global lessor, managing more than 500 owned, managed, and committed aircraft across 85 airlines.
The A220-300 delivery represents a strategic step in ITA Airways’ fleet modernisation and supports broader sustainability objectives in the short- and medium-haul segments, enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.
