Industry NewsHorizon Aircraft raises $20 million to advance Cavorite X7 hybrid eVTOL programme
Canadian hybrid eVTOL developer Horizon Aircraft has priced a $20 million (€18.4 million) equity offering through the sale of approximately 9.25 million Class A ordinary shares to institutional investors, with proceeds directed toward accelerating development of its Cavorite X7 aircraft programme.
According to Aviation Business News, the NASDAQ-listed company entered into a definitive agreement with institutional investors for the offering, which is scheduled to close around 8 May 2026, subject to customary conditions. Titan Partners, a division of American Capital Partners, acted as sole placement agent.
The Cavorite X7 is a hybrid-electric aircraft designed to combine vertical take-off and landing capability with conventional wingborne flight, a configuration Horizon Aircraft says is intended to deliver improved speed, range and operational flexibility relative to purely electric eVTOL designs.
Chief executive Brandon Robinson described the fundraising as a significant milestone, citing growing institutional backing for the company's technology roadmap. He said the additional funding would support continued product development, recruitment and acceleration toward commercialisation.
Horizon Aircraft is targeting multiple end markets for the Cavorite X7, including regional air mobility, emergency services and defence applications. Production scaling is planned once testing and certification milestones have been achieved, though timelines remain subject to regulatory approval and technical progress.
The raise arrives as the broader advanced air mobility sector faces continued scrutiny over funding sustainability, with several eVTOL developers having encountered financial difficulties or delayed certification programmes in recent years. Horizon Aircraft's hybrid propulsion approach relying on conventional fuel to extend range beyond battery-only limits has been positioned as a more near-term commercially viable configuration pending advances in battery energy density.
