SAS and mobile operator 3 join forces to deliver free Starlink WiFi across its fleet

SAS Scandinavian Airlines, the Stockholm-based carrier operating across Scandinavia and beyond, has announced a commercial partnership with mobile communications company 3 to enhance onboard connectivity for passengers and strengthen the airline's operational mobile infrastructure. The agreement positions SAS to offer free high-speed WiFi to a broader segment of its passengers, a development with direct implications for airline competitiveness and passenger experience strategies.

ITTN reported that under the terms of the agreement, 3 will manage SAS' worldwide operational mobile communications and enable free access on SAS aircraft equipped with Starlink for EuroBonus members and customers of 3.

Anko van der Werff, president and CEO of SAS, said: "Together with 3, we are taking an important step toward that goal. Their strong position in mobile connectivity, combined with our new Starlink-powered high-speed WiFi, gives our EuroBonus members and 3's customers an internet experience that matches what travellers expect — fast, stable, and available across all cabins."

Haval van Drumpt, CEO for Tre in Sweden, described the deal as a key step forward for our enterprise business, noting it would deliver secure and reliable connectivity solutions for SAS operations.

SAS and 3 are also exploring deeper integration between the EuroBonus programme and 3's mobile services, with the aim of creating further value for their shared customer base.
