Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam has announced a €3.4 million fleet expansion agreement with UK-based Scottish flight training academy ACS Aviation, alongside the unveiling of significant upgrades to its P2010 and P2012 aircraft ranges.

According to Asian Aviation, ACS Aviation has committed to a 10-aircraft expansion plan over four years, with an initial phase comprising four confirmed orders for the Tecnam P-Mentor trainer, valued at €1.3 million, and options for six additional aircraft valued at €2.1 million. The investment will grow ACS Aviation's total fleet to 23 aircraft by 2027.

Craig McDonald, group technical director at ACS Aviation, said the order was about more than fleet size. "It's about increasing capacity, improving efficiency, and making sure our training environment reflects what airlines expect from modern pilots," he said, adding that the investment supported new jobs and reinforced the academy's position as a leading UK training provider.

James Cracroft of Oriens Aviation, Tecnam's dealer for the UK and Ireland, described ACS Aviation's commitment as a strong endorsement of the P-Mentor's performance, safety and economics.

Tecnam also unveiled the P2010 MkIII upgrade, available across the full P2010 range including the IO-390, IO-360 and TDI variants. Key additions include a factory-designed air conditioning system for Lycoming-powered versions, with EASA certification expected by summer 2026 and FAA certification in October 2026. Avionics enhancements include an optional Garmin bundle featuring Starlink connectivity, Synthetic Vision 2.0 and taxiway routing, alongside a flight management system update for both TDI and Lycoming variants.

The company additionally unveiled the P2012 VIP, featuring electronically dimmable smart panoramic windows and Starlink-ready connectivity, positioned at the premium end of the twin-engine charter and business aviation market.
