This award recognises an organisation, project, or initiative that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship within the Irish aviation industry. The Green Impact Award honours innovative efforts that reduce environmental impact, improve energy efficiency, or promote sustainable practices across any area of aviation operations, infrastructure, or services. The category is open to any aviation entity based on the island of Ireland or with a significant business presence here. Entries may come from airports, airlines, service providers, manufacturers, or support organisations actively contributing to a greener aviation ecosystem. Entry is by a 5 A4 page submission; the judges will be looking for clear, compelling information, supported by evidence, that addresses the following criteria:
- Overview of Green Initiative: Provide a description of the sustainability initiative, project, or programme. Include its objectives, timeline, and the environmental challenge it was designed to address. State whether it is a company-wide effort, localised project, or part of a broader strategy.
- Environmental Impact: Demonstrate the measurable outcomes and environmental benefits achieved. These may include reductions in carbon emissions, energy use, water consumption, noise pollution, or waste. Provide data where possible, and describe how impact was assessed or verified.
- Innovation in Sustainability: Explain how your approach incorporates innovation—through new technologies, alternative fuels, operational changes, process improvements, or novel sustainability frameworks. What makes this solution different or ahead of its time?
- Scalability & Long-Term Value: Is the initiative scalable within your organisation or across the aviation sector? Describe how your work lays the foundation for lasting environmental benefit or behavioural change. Include any long-term goals or policies implemented as a result.
- Cross-Industry Collaboration: Highlight any partnerships or collaborations with other aviation stakeholders, regulatory bodies, or sustainability experts that helped to develop or implement the project.
- Employee & Stakeholder Engagement: Describe how your organisation involved staff, customers, or partners in the process—whether through training, communication campaigns, or sustainability-focused roles.
- Alignment with Global Standards: Show how the project aligns with national or international environmental goals, such as ICAO’s CORSIA programme, EU Fit for 55, or the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
